The movie has also garnered some criticism. The Vatican blasted the movie for, to paraphrase, the theme of nature in place of a God. There are those who claim, also, that the movie has a racist theme to it. The claim stems from the plot where a white man goes to "blend in" with an alien tribe and ultimately ends up fighting with them. My personal reaction is that, if you have to look at every movie for any sort of flaws, you've forgotten the whole point of going to the movies: to be entertained.
Originally, I had no intention of seeing this movie. I didn't think that it looked at ALL interesting. However, after a New Year's Eve party, some friends of mine convinced me to go and see it. And after seeing the film in 3-D, I can say that it would be well worth the money to go and see Avatar 3-D.
In fact, Avatar has beaten Titanic's overseas box office record. Now, Cameron can enjoy a nice little paycheck, and the possibility of a sequel. So put on your 3-D glasses, sit back and enjoy the ride.
