It means being united in helping out others in need.

During the celebration, Measure 13, Gospel Choir and community members united as a whole to sing multiple songs which included "Like a Mighty Stream."

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield awarded two St. John Fisher students with $500 scholarships in recognition of their commitment to diversity, equity and social justice which were similar goals that Martin Luther King Jr. had.

Awards were given to Lorelei Kujat and Miesha Roberts. Although Martin Luther King Jr. died years ago, his dreams still live on through the courage and generosity of others.

According to Slobert, the Martin Luther King Jr. event raised $540 for Haiti relief. The money will go to Doctors without Borders.
