Ward also thinks the added sports will make the athletic department stronger overall.
"I think we've been a program that has had some really solid teams but the depth of our program has been a little bit behind some of the other Division III schools," Ward said. "So this gets us up to 21 sports and puts us right in the middle of the mix of everything."
Both Bain and Ward believe potential concerns that go along with such a massive undertaking will be taken care of.
The Buffalo Bills have used the area that will be under construction for their summer training camp.
"We are very committed to working closely with the Bills so that we are able to accommodate whatever their needs are regarding their summer training camp," Bain said. "We have every expectation the Bills' summer training camp will continue here and the improvements we're making here to the facilities will always be done in coordination with the Bills themselves."
In addition, the donation will go towards the building of the facilities but will not cover maintenance once it is built.
However, Bain points to new potential students and a decreased area of grass needing to be cut as ways the cost of maintenance will be offset.
The department hopes more additions are on the horizon once more donors are secured. Possible additions in the coming years to the athletic department include expansions to the Student Life Center, an added field house, a grandstand on the visitor side of Growney Stadium and a hockey rink.
"We're not going to sit back and relax," Ward said. "We have other plans and all of those are still on the table. I'm hoping we can go forward with that."
