I was walking through the dining hall when I noticed a girl in line in front of me bobbing her head to a song on her iPod.

As we chatted she told me her name was Lisa Weider, and we decided to sit down to eat together. She explained that she was listening to her favorite band, Simple Plan; they have been her favorite since she first listened to them when she was younger. Here are some other things she shared...

Lisa is 20 years old and is a junior here at Fisher. She is majoring in communication/journalism with a minor in human resource management.

Although she now works at Shear Ego Salon and Spa as a booking agent, she hopes to one day be a movie critic. Lisa said she would one day love to live in Hollywood in the warmth and have a career she truly loves.

Lisa is a new transfer this year and went to SUNY Cortland for her first two years of college. Even though she loved it there, she knew coming to Fisher would help her focus on her studies as a serious student.

Also, since she is from Fairport she is able to live at home and commute to school.

Lisa's favorite class is COMM 205: Media Issues in Contemporary Culture. Her favorite professor is Tom Proietti, whom she knows through her father who is an alumni of Fisher.

Her least favorite thing about Fisher is that even though she doesn't live on campus she says there is never anything to do while she is here.

She says she isn't involved in any clubs yet, but would like to be next semester. She was just too busy this semester with classes, work and getting used to a new school.

Since Lisa is living at home, she finds other things to do with her high school friends and new friends from Fisher.

Lisa's favorite food is chicken parmesan, and she loves to sit down in front of the television at home watching a new episode (or even an old one) of Project Runway.

Her favorite thing about Fisher is the class sizes. Lisa said at her old school she could have huge classes up to 100 people, but at Fisher none of her classes are over 25 people.

This makes it easier for her to feel comfortable adding comments in class and it's easier for her to get to know her professors.

She likes going to a smaller college because she said she gets that 'at home' feeling.

Lisa's favorite books are the Twilight series, and she has even gone to see New Moon when it opened in theatres. But her all time favorite movie is Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.

"Even though it's old, I laugh every time," she said.

As Lisa and I were putting our dishes on the conveyer belt to be washed, I looked over at her and realized she had spotted a spider on the floor. She said she is extremely afraid of them, so I went over and stepped on it.

So if you see Lisa around campus, be sure to say hello to the arachnophobic, Twilight-loving movie-critic-in-the-making.
