It's a safe bet to say that everyone on campus is looking forward to Thanksgiving break. Some can't wait to get home and see their family, while others are looking forward to the awfully delicious food they will encounter. I'm sure you're wondering what it is that I enjoy more than anything on break and that's nothing more than two words: Black Friday.
Sure, some of you may disagree and think I'm just another one of those crazy people who shove my way through the overcrowded mall but that's not the case at all.
Every year after my family leaves, and I settle down for the evening, all I can think about is my alarm clock going off at 4 in the morning and happily jumping out of bed. I'm basically like that kid on Christmas who gets up screaming through the house waking up every family member to head down stairs and get the presents (Just in case you needed a visual). I always have a pre-set game plan for big day, and I know exactly where I need to go first. You can think what you want, but who doesn't love getting an awesome digital camera for less than half the price? Did I mention that I also got a free HD photo printer with it JUST because it was a Black Friday special? Now try and tell me it's not worth the 5 a.m. madness.
I haven't even gotten into the other great part about this fabulous day; The non-stop Christmas music begins! I'm sure all of you Rochester locals know what I'm referring to, just tune into WARM 101.3 anytime between Black Friday and New Year's and you'll know what I mean. Mariah Carey, your 1994 Christmas album will never get old to me, and yes I will still sing along with you full out in my car while driving by people giving me looks. Girls, you know what I'm talking about. Every time "All I Want for Christmas" comes on, you jump up and say "Oh my God this one's my FAVORITE!"
In the end, I hope the next time someone mentions Black Friday to you, at least give it a chance and maybe try it out for yourself. Never judge a book by it's cover and don't let the horror stories scare you. It's really not that bad. I hope you all enjoy your break, no matter how it is you celebrate.
