With the help of the many department representatives present at this fair, students had an opportunity to gain valuable information about finding programs and concentrations that suit their needs and aspirations.

There were many students in attendance at the fair and many of them were undeclared freshman and upperclassmen looking for a minor. As students explored the different programs they had the chance to talk with the representatives and ask lots of questions. At each table students could also pick up curriculum planners for each major/minor, which supply very important information pertaining to the specific program.

Professor Uman, a teacher in the Women and Gender Studies program, explained that when choosing a major/minor she stresses to students that they should study what they love. She gives the advice that you should "pursue your interests because you might not have time to go back to them, as we can never get these years back."

With the demand of students who want to pursue a career path in health professions, this fair offered tons of opportunities to learn how to get on the right track. Maureen Van Cura, in the Nursing program, explained to students the low down on this popular major. Being a Nursing major opens the door to students to work in many different areas. Maureen explained that "your opportunities are endless as you can specialize in your practices, encounter new challenges, and move laterally or vertically in the field. She says, "It's hard pressed why people don't choose this major."

Going along with health professions, Virginia Maier was at the fair, and her program information table was a high traffic area. Many students here at Fisher are interested in the field of health professions and choose to study in the areas of Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Medicine, and Pre-Physical Therapy just to name a few. Virginia said that many students come to her with questions about pre-requisites and whether or not they have the grades to make it in these fields. She gives students the advice that they can study any major here at Fisher and do what they want with their four years while at the same time prepare for medical school. This way students can "explore other areas and use all the resources they have available to them," Maier said.

Aside from just looking into majors, students had the chance to look into potential minors. In order to earn a minor here at Fisher a student must earn 18 credits, which Professor Uman described, "six classes is not a burden." Students looking for a minor could discuss opportunities in each academic program and find out which minor would compliment their major. For example an English major may want to minor in Communications/Journalism, Business, or even Computer Science. Or if you're a Political Science major, a minor in Philosophy, English, Sociology, and History would be complimentary. A freshman, Emily Chiara said that, "This fair was very beneficial because I figured out I should stay on track with a BS Degree and as a Psychology major Sport Management would be a good minor to study."
