Director of Transfer and Graduate Admissions Jose Perales said that "Fisher has always had a reputation for being a transfer-friendly place."

Fisher has a lot to offer its students, including the large group of transfers that attend every semester. Perales estimates that Fisher receives about 350 transfer students from nearby colleges, such as Monroe Community College and Finger Lakes Community College. Usually, Fisher receives about 500 students in the freshman class, which is comparable to the large numbers of transfers who join the school community as well.

Sharee Turpin, a senior who transferred to Fisher from Monroe Community College for the fall 2008 semester, described Fisher as being a "community." Turpin chose to attend Fisher because of its Communication/Journalism department. Professors like Tom Proietti from Monroe Community College had told her "great things" about Fisher and that she should look into attending. Turpin also wanted to stay close to home, as did senior transfer student Christine Coco.

Coco, a Spanish, Adolescent Education, and History major, also attended Monroe Community College before attending Fisher. She had already decided her senior year at Bishop Kearney High School that Fisher was the place for her-but Monroe Community College gave her the chance to join the 2+2 program and save some money.

Coco stated that her favorite things about Fisher are the "caring faculty and staff, the excellence in education and academics, the supportive admission counselors, and the strong Catholic tradition."

Like Turpin, Coco feels as though there is a strong sense of community and family on Fisher's campus, somewhat unlike other universities.

Steve Royka, a sophomore transfer from Digipen Institute of Technology in Seattle, Washington, said that Fisher seemed like "a more friendly place." Royka, a resident of Macedon, chose Fisher because he knew friends that attended the school and he liked it a lot better. Royka found it appealing that Fisher is small enough that students can get involved with faculty, who are more than willing to help students.
