Fisher Players are rehearsing now for the November performance of The Wedding Singer the musical.
The musical is based on the movie with a few twists and turns, but you can still expect fashions and set designs from the late 90s.
The musical stars are Robbie and Julia, played by Fisher students Jim Kennedy and Amanda Harding.
Similar to the movie, Robbie is the wedding singer and Julia works the wedding circuit, and the two eventually fall in love after countless comical scenes.
"A few people are new to the stage this year, and have added a lot of talent and character to the group," said Senior Jenna Bellucci, who plays the role of rapping Grandma Rosie.
One newcomer to Fisher Players, Mike Thomas, plays a lead role of George who is with the wedding band. This is his debut production with Fisher Players and decided to participate for the fun of it all.
"It was just one of those things in life that I wanted to check off, it was on my bucket list," Thomas said, on why he chose to try out for the musical.
The Fisher Player's e-board voted on this particular production because they thought it had a real college-oriented theme.
"Not only is it fun, but it's a good college show because everyone in our generation is familiar with the movie," said Amanda Hackett, who plays the role of Holly, Julia's cousin.
The catchy plot line and fast-paced humor is designed to keep the audience laughing the entirety of the night.
Fisher Player's is all student-run which gives everyone the opportunity to participate in different roles whether you like to act, direct or stay behind the scenes.
Opening night for The Wedding Singer is Thursday, November 19 at 9:30 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, the show will be at 7 p.m. with a Sunday showing at 2 p.m. in Cleary Family Auditorium
