As I was walking through the library I noticed a guy with his head buried in books, looking like he was trying to study for a million different things. I sat down to ask him what he was reading, and he was so friendly we began to chat.

Adam Cipolla told me it was his first year at Fisher and although he is new, he has met a lot of great people.

Adam is a junior and just transferred from R.I.T. where he was a graphic design major. When he came to Fisher he decided to change his major.

Adam discussed how graphic design has changed over the years and said it just wasn't appealing to him.

"I liked it 20 years ago; the market is just too different now," Adam said.

He said that today you can just grab any "how to" book about graphic design and market any product, and he feels that it doesn't take the innovative ideas like it used to. He decided he didn't want or need to go to college for it.

At Fisher, he is majoring in communication/journalism with a concentration in public relations and a minor in visual and performing arts.

He is taking a full load of coursework with 18 credits and still manages to work a part time job at Banana Republic in Marketplace Mall. He has had some sort of part time job since attenting high school at Charles Finney, from where he graduated in 2004.

Adam is 23 and commutes to school. He says he doesn't mind the drive since he lives in Gates, which is not too far from Fisher.

His ideal future job would be in entertainment PR, but he said that, with the economy, he would just take whatever he can get.
The professor who most inspires him is Tom Proietti, and his favorite class is Intro to Public Relations.

Adam says because of his busy schedule, he doesn't have much time to do anything other than school and work, and he hardly has time to eat his favorite food, Puerto Rican rice and beans.

However, he has managed to find enough time to become part of PRIMA and CTV. He believes these clubs will help him further his education and lead to be a better career later in life.

He says Fisher and RIT are very different, and when asked why he prefers Fisher he said, "I like the class size, one on one help from professors, and I find the work challenging but interesting."

Adam mentioned he loves to read chilling books, such as Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King. Although when it comes to movies he prefers action, such as The Matrix.

If you want to grab lunch with Adam, make sure not to order mushrooms, as he has a strange phobia of them.

But be sure to ask him about reality TV, because he loves it.

To underclassmen Adam advises, "Don't be afraid to ask questions, and just grab the bull by the horns!"

Adam's Stats:
