In the past there has been cause for concern over the lack of student input in College decision making. This year, there has been a significant increase in the number of surveys that have been sent out to collect student, faculty and staff opinions.

Among those who sent out surveys were Facilities, The Office of Information Technology and Campus Ministry. Each of these were created to find ways to better serve the campus community. We hope you, as a campus community, particiapted, if not, don't waste your time complaining about anything next year.

Lackmann has done an impressive job of taking student input into account and making changes accordingly. The number of drops to the food service in the Courier has been much lower this year. The managers and staff deserve recognition for their hard work, and we hope that it continues into next year.

On a larger scale, the College itself conducted a Campus Climate Survey to better understand how students, faculty and staff views the atmosphere and feel of campus.

Based on the results of this study, the College can find ways to improve the aspects of life at Fisher that need improving and maintain the things that it already does well.

Surveying students is a step in the right direction. After all, what is the College without them? Assuming students answered honestly and administration really puts forth the effort, Fisher could be seeing some beneficial changes in the not-so-distant future.

This is not to say that the work is done. There are still many areas that student opinion could really be used.

Parking remains one of the most heated topics on campus, and though we're grateful for improvements that have been made, it seems as though a lot more could be done. Also, in terms of campus construction, administrators and the Board of Trustees should take into consideration what students really want to see built on this campus.

This isn't a one-way street, students need to make a genuine effort to express their opinions and concerns in a constructive manner. Complaining to your friends at the Fishbowl won't accomplish much. If you really want to see something changed, there are many ways you can give input.

Organizations like Senate, Student Government Association as a whole, and the Courier are just a few ways you can voice your opinion. For resident students, the Resident Student Association does a lot of advocacy work. Commuters can voice their concerns through Commuter Council.

After reading this, the excuse of "I don't know who to talk to" is no longer an option. Here is a list of five places to start.

So, in the words of the Campus Climate campaign, "let our voices be heard."
