Our whole life people ask us what we want to be when we grow up. Now that I'm a graduating senior, I get this question almost daily. It makes me tremble and causes panic, because I just don't know.

One of my roommates, a nursing major has had a job lined up since the beginning of the semester. Another friend that attends Miami of Ohio got a sales job in Cincinati around Christmas.
Recently, I was sitting in on a pharmacy session during open house, waiting to guide parents to the Galisano Gateway. Sitting in the Wegmans School of Pharmacy classroom I started nodding off, not at all unusual for me, but it confirmed that I chose the right major for me.

Another night I was at telerecruiting for Admissions when one student said he was going to law school and another said he was going to join the Peace Corps after graduation. I laughed because one was a freshman, and the other a sophomore. Although I've always wanted to write, I have had many crazy schemes these past four years.

Freshman year I was going to transfer to Syracuse University, because I was shy and was afraid to meet people here. I didn't quite think it through that SU is three times the size of Fisher, but this idea lasted for about two weeks.

Sophomore year I thought I wanted to be a news reporter. I took an unpaid not for credit internship at a local newspaper and realized in a summer that news was not my niche. I didn't like writing leads or not having the flexibility to be creative. I also started looking into a semester abroad for the spring of junior year.

Junior year fall semester I studied abroad in England, but it wasn't like the second semester I had planned, (I wanted to get luggage for Christmas before leaving). This time one of my dreams worked out. If you are reading this as an underclassman, go see Dr. May immediately. I have never heard a Fisher student say that their time abroad was terrible.

Senior year I toyed with the idea of graduate school. But, I made the decision to find a job instead of accumulating more student loans. I can always go on later in life, and I'm only twenty-one, there's still time.

The greatest piece of advice I've gotten this year is that the biggest jump in life is not from senior year to your first job, but from your first job to second. So what if I never got a 4.0 grade point average, I made it through.

In your time here, surprise yourself. Stay up late to have deep conversation with your roommates. Conquer your fears. I knew getting into journalism I would never be rich, but I know I'll be happy.
