"In baseball, it's very hard to get all nine guys hot at the same time," Pepicelli said. "Quality pitching always shuts down powerful offenses."
Fisher starting pitcher Jeremy Williard allowed five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings in the loss.
"Jeremy has a ton of potential," Pepicelli said. "We were down 2-0 through five innings and we had a chance to end the inning, but I made a bad pitch call that allowed three more runs to come in."
In the fifth inning, Fisher did turn a triple play as Ithaca shortstop Kurt Bednarcyk attempted to bunt the ball. Williard made a diving catch for the first out and then threw out Ithaca's Connor Thompson trying to get back to second. The relay throw from Wing to Fisher first baseman Steven Karnyski beat Samela back to the bag.
"The way they pulled it off was fantastic," Pepicelli said. "Jeremy made such an incredible play on the ball. He came off the mound and laid out to catch the bunt, the Ithaca base-runners thought he had no chance at making the play."
