Have you ever heard a song on the radio and were able to relate to every word?

Have you ever seen a movie and been so moved by it that you began to reflect on the way you live?

Have you ever read a book that made you look at the world in a whole new way?

Most of us have.

The power of sending messages to the masses through film, novels and music are the quickest ways to people's hearts.

As outdated as they are in this technologically savvy world we live in, books still have found a way to affect us and stay in our memory years after we've read them.

Freshman Caitlin Balkin said that she read the Chicken Soup for the Soul books when she was younger.

"I was always so inspired by the stories of people overcoming obstacles, or dealing with tragedy. These books made me realize how special and temporary life is," Balkin said. "I was inspired to make a difference in the world. I know that I want to inspire people, touch lives and make a difference."

Senior Jeanne Fiano said that the novel, The Precious Present by Spencer Johnson is special to her because it is "a story about enjoying life at the present moment and finding something great in each day and moment and living in the present, not in the past or future."

Fiano recommends that everyone reads it because it is a good short read.

Once we weed out the Scary Movie series and Not Another Teen Movie, we can start to appreciate true works of art through film.
Since movies leave almost nothing to the imagination, they are actually expected to fulfill high expectations.

Juno was a big hit when it came out and a lot of people found it to be a very meaningful movie.

Senior Whitney Short said that aside from the fact that Juno had to deal with a lot of adult things too soon, it reminded her of her own relationship with her boyfriend and how things aren't always perfect between them, but in the end they care about one another.
