"We have constructed several new buildings and landscaped areas that needed reconfiguration to serve the needs of our students and overall operations," Bain said. "The most important changes have been programmatic, however, as we have seen the steady yet carefully considered addition of several new degree opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate levels."
The college has seen an increase in enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as an expansion in clubs and organizations. This growth has brought diversity and enrichment to campus. The only negative part in the rapid growth of the college, according to Bain, has been the distraction: several years of campus construction.
Of his five years as president, Bain said, "My time as president has been as rewarding as it has been challenging. It has been rewarding because of our ability to provide our students with the finest facilities, the best faculty, and the most vibrant academic environment possible. Challenging because of the necessity of coordinating the interests of multiple groups to which I am responsible including faculty, students, parents, staff, trustees, alumni, community leaders, accrediting agencies, government regulators, external auditors, and donors to name a few all of whom are stakeholders in the success of the College."
In regard to the future of the College, Bain said, "Our past will continue to guide us and our mission will continue to drive us. We exist, after all, for our students. Our aim is to help prepare them for meaningful lives, rich in personal and intellectual experience. We also aim to prepare leaders for success in professional achievement that will in turn result in service to the community. We will continue to seek out programs and opportunities that are mission consistent and market responsive."
Thus far the college has had many committed, creative and ambitious students, who have shaped the college into what it is now.
The future is unknown, but it is certain that each member of the Fisher community will have an impact.
