Nancy Greco works for the circulation and reference desk at the library. She has been with the Fisher family since January 2007. Greco received her master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Buffalo, after obtaining a Bachelor's in retail merchandising.

Q: What services does the reference desk offer which students may be unaware of?

A: I think what most students don't understand is that the reference librarians enjoy helping students with their research. We go about helping them in a number of different ways.
At the reference desk, there is a reference librarian available into 9 p.m. [except on Friday and Saturday.] You can ask them any question. We are willing to deluge you with information.
We also do this in the classroom setting if the professor feels their class needs help in developing strategies for their research.

Lastly, individual students or groups of students can set up appointments for projects. Most students seem to be unaware of this and it can all be done by e-mail or phone and we will work together to find a convenient time.

Q: What influenced you to work at the library?

A: Well, this is my second career. When I stayed at home with my children, after obtaining my Bachelor's, I developed a love with the library. I ended up going back to school to obtain a Master's in Library Science.

Q: If your life was a book, what would the title be?

A: I will keep it simple: The Happy Times of Nancy Greco. I have been very fortunate and have had a happy life. I have a wonderful family and was able to go back to school to earn a degree to go to a job which I enjoy every single day.

Q: What changes are coming to the library this year?

A: I think all the librarians are always thinking of ways to make information more convenient and more accessible. In other words, how can we make it easier for students to become more successful?

I think you'll continue to see a trend of additional databases through our webpage. We are currently digitizing some of our current special collections.
