The women's lacrosse team has yet again found itself in contention for another Empire 8 championship. They finished the season with a 10-6 record overall, and an impressive 7-1 record in the conference. These standings will land them the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

Although they would end the regular season with a tight loss to Union College, they finished strong in their conference schedule with convincing wins against Hartwick College and Utica College.

In the Hartwick game, Fisher didn't allow their opponents to get on the board until almost the midway point of the second half. Their 13-0 run not only gave their offense confidence, but their defense held Hartwick to just two goals in Fisher's 17-2 victory.

In their last home game of the season, Fisher was led on by their senior leaders Laurie Quackenbush, who had five points on four goals and one assist, and Katie Glavin, who had three points on two goals and one assist. Their 15 goal margin of victory was the second largest of the season and improved Fisher to a 9-4 overall record.

After a loss to SUNY Geneseo in the following game, it was time for Fisher's last conference game of the regular season against Utica. A win in this game would officially lock up a No. 2 seed for Fisher in the E8 tournament. Also, a Fisher win, combined with an Ithaca College win over Hartwick, would knock Utica out of contention for an E8 tournament spot. So, with this in mind, both teams came out of the gate ready to play.

Utica kept it close through most of the first half, but Fisher scored the last three goals of the half to take a 9-5 lead at the break. They kept this momentum into the second half and sustained a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game, eventually registering a 20-12 victory.

Fisher, who went a perfect seven- for-seven on their second half clears, attributed this victory to solid transition play.

"Our fast break game was very strong that day," coach Shannon McHale said. "We also received composed play from several different players."

Quackenbush had a game-high five goals in the contest, and senior Kyle Simon tied a game-high in assists with three. Sophomore Ashley Fenyn also had an impressive performance by adding four goals and one assist.
