St. John Fisher College was defeated 33-3 by the Mount Union Purple Raiders Saturday afternoon in Alliance, Ohio. Senior All-American tailback Nate Kmic pounded the Cardinals for 231 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Mount Union, the number one team in the nation.
Although Fisher was able to move the ball on Mount Union's defense at times, turnovers ultimately cost the Cardinals, prematurely ending four drives. A 27-yard field goal from senior Chris Pierri was the only points the Cardinals would put on the board.
Sophomore quarterback Tim Bailey, making his debut against the perennial powerhouse of Division III, passed for 231 yards but was picked off three times. Senior Tim Marion had four catches for 34 yards.
Fisher will return to action this Saturday, a 6 o'clock kickoff against Buffalo State.
