Epic's recording artists Cartel flexed their rock muscles for Fisher students at the Student Life Center for St. John Fisher College's Spring Event on April 17.

According to Vice Chair of Spring Event Jason Steinmetz, about 600 people attended the concert thanks to a last day surge in sales.

"It was by far one of the best concerts I have ever been to and definitely one of the best Spring Events," Steinmetz added.

The American pop punk/power pop band from Coyners, Georgia is currently on tour promoting their most recent self-titled CD. The band choped through fan favorites like The Fortunate and Georgia, both of which are on their most recent album.

In 2006 Cartel debuted with Chroma. According to the band's website, they have sold nearly a quarter-million copies of the debut album. The band has also scored heavy radio and MTV airplay, including appearances on TRL and the network's influential Discover & Download program.

Although the event was Fisher's Spring Event, it attracted a lot of students from off campus. One of those students, 22-year-old Anthony Guilfoil from Williamson, N.Y. said, "I give the show an eight out of 10." This was Guilfoil's first Cartel concert. "It sounds like the CD," he added.

Opening for Cartel was the band Honor Bright from Syracuse.

"I really liked the opening band. They rocked," 21-year-old Magnum Langley from Sodus Point said. It was Langley's first concert ever.

Honor Bright almost didn't make it to Fisher. According to the band's lead singer Liam DiCosimo, the band's van broke down just outside of Syracuse on their way to the show.

"Our van just bit it. We had to call a friend to come bail us out. It was crazy," DiCosimo said. "In college you get in a rut and it's good to see some live music and have a good time."
