Manny Ramirez, acting general manager of Bon Appétit, has had an interesting first year back at St. John Fisher College. Ramirez and his wife, Brenda, have been a staple of daily life at the dining hall. Having worked at Bon Appétit for seven years prior to his stint here now, Ramirez has seen the community grow and change over the last decade.

Q. How long have you worked at Fisher?
Well, it depends. I started here in 1998 and worked until 2004, then I was transferred to Houston and came back in 2006, but I was always part of the Fisher community. I stayed connected to the community and always felt like I was here, so I would actually say ten years.

Q. What was your position at the beginning of this year?
Operations Manager, I was actually a prep cook when I first started at Fisher. I have worked in all of the facilities on campus at some point.

Q. What did you do before working at Fisher?
I started working at small family restaurants, just getting my foot in the door, then worked my way up here.

Q. What is your current position at Fisher?
Well we can't get new name tags overnight, but I am now the acting general manager until the end of the contract.

Q. What are your plans for next year?
As for next year it is too early to know, but I have to do what is best for my family. I hope that all of the Fisher community will understand. I may be back or might not be, I just don't know.
It's too early to determine, I will always have a home with Bon Appétit. I don't know anything about Lackmann, it's not like they have a representative here letting us know everything that is happening with them.

Q. What is it like to work with your wife?
It's fun actually. She knows what my environment looks like. It started as a trial base; everyone fell in love with the situation. She became a part of the community.

Q. What is your favorite part of working at Fisher?
The people are not just staff, but a community. Knowing everyone so long now, I am a people person. I love seeing these people.
It's the emotions coming out of me right now.

Q. What is your least favorite part of working at Fisher?
