Moving on from college can be a fear - inducing situation, but St. John Fisher College has resources that can make the transition a bit easier.
Betsy McDermott and Laurie Valentino from Career Services are both happy and more than willing to help any student make connections, proof resumes, and provide information about job fairs and internships.
The Career Center is a free of charge service for finding a job. However, there is always the newer way of job searching, the Internet.
Websites like Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com are two websites that are recruiting employees like crazy. The process is easy and there are no boundaries as to what jobs are available if you just look.
Along with preparing to enter the world post-graduation, there are a few necessities that need to be taken care of prior to walking across the stage come May 10.
Representatives from Campus Life, Financial Aid, Registrar, Alumni and the Bookstore came together on March 25 to create a one-stop shop for graduating seniors.
Walking throughout Cleary Auditorium, seniors were able to give their measurement for their cap and gown at the bookstore. Stopping by the table for the Registrar's Office students made sure that all of their information was correct in relation to their major and minor.
Rick DeJesus-Rueff was also in attendance at the Graduation Fair to speak about a program that is important to him, the Graduation Pledge. Seniors were able to sign a pledge sheet and received a wallet-size card with the pledge. For more information see graduationpledge.com.
Campus Life was available to sell tickets for the upcoming Senior Week. Senior Week events include a night at a Red Wings game, a wine tour at Casa Larga Winery, and a golfing outing as well as a senior/faculty kickball game.
Other events included throughout the week will be a cook-out, laser tag and an ice cream social.
May 7 will be the day of the Senior Ball to be held at Locust Hill Country Club. Closing out the last week there will be a senior convocation where the Class of 2008 will meet for a final time and reflect on the last four years. Friday, May 9 seniors can attend the awards ceremony and reception as well as the Baccalaureate Mass.
Saturday, May 10 commencement will begin at 10 a.m. Seniors are required to be at the Blue Cross Arena at 8:30 a.m.
If students did not have the opportunity to attend the Graduation Fair, there is still time to stop by the offices and get all your necessities in order. For more information regarding your bill, see the Bursar's Office.
For information regarding Senior Week events, see the Office of Campus Life.
Students who wish to purchase a Senior Week package will receive tickets to all events for $80. After April 11, students will be charged $85 for the Senior Week package or $80 for the Senior Ball only.
