You know one of the things that is wrong with the world right now? Everyone is so caught up in their own lives and the next thing they need to do that they don't really think twice about cleaning up after themselves before running off.
This type of attitude occurs everywhere. I do not see too much of this on campus, which I am extremely thankful for. However, it does happen sometimes at school, as well as in stores and at the movies.
However, there are many people out there who just do not seem to care about anyone but themselves. Working in retail, I encounter these people quite often.
I cannot tell you how many times someone comes into the toy store I work at, pulls all the toys off a shelf looking for a specific one, and then leaves all the others laying on the floor.
Other people leave their drink containers, not neccessarily empty, sitting on shelves, which is a nuisance in itself. Then others come along, inevitably spill things and either do not tell store employees about it or do not offer to help clean it up. I know when I spill something in another store I am the one who at least offers to wipe it up.
Other times someone will knock something on the floor, look down at it, shrug and then walk away.
Some people can also never seem to put anything back where they found it. No matter what you might think, that Cinderella doll does not belong with the Star Wars action figures.
Many times here at Fisher, I notice people leaving cans and bottles around and expecting maintenance to pick them up. Why can't students just pick up after themselves? There are many recycling bins and trash cans around campus, so that can't be the reason.
At the movies people are constantly leaving behind their candy wrappers and cups.
Is there some reason they are incapable of throwing those things away? It's not like there aren't usually garbage cans right in the back of the theater.
Really, all I'm trying to say is take the time to clean up after yourself. It doesn't usually take too long and other people will really appreciate it. It may even make you feel better about yourself.
