The St. John Fisher College Cardinals upset the top-seeded Ithaca Bombers, 88-68, in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament on Friday night at Ithaca College.
With the win, the fourth-seeded Cardinals (16-10) advance to the finals to face third-seeded Nazareth College, a team they have not beat thus far this season, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Golden Flyers defeated No. 2 Stevens Institute of Technology, 81-70, earlier in the night.
Cardinal sophomore Chris Baltz was the leading scorer for the team with 18 points. Senior Justin Beigel came up big in the post also finishing with 18 points. Usual Cardinal killer, Bomber junior Sean Burton, who combined for 63 points in the teams' last two match-ups, finished with 25 points.
The Cardinals were the only four seed to ever defeat the top seed in the E8 Conference tournament.
