Located at 19 S. Main St., in Pittsford, Breathe is a combination boutique, juice bar, yoga studio and spa. Breathe was opened five years ago, and is privately owned and operated by Cindi Weiss.
Breathe sells everything from yoga apparel to semi-formal wear, as well as jewelry and yoga supplies. The staff in the boutique is extremely helpful and friendly, and is willing to answer any questions you may have.
If you are not in the mood to shop, you may want to sit down at the tables in the juice bar, which offers a wide range of both food and drink. The Breathe juice bar offers fresh fruit smoothies, paninis, salads, healthy quesadillas and wraps as just part of their vast menu. While I was there, I tried the Breathe Classic smoothie, which is a combination of strawberries, banana and orange juice.
Perhaps on your trip to Breathe, you may just be looking to de-stress. If that's the case you have two options. First, you could make an appointment, in advance, to the Breathe spa. The spa is located on the first floor of Breathe, and offers massages, facials and skin care services with a variety of complements that can be added to any treatment.
Or, if a spa treatment isn't what you are after, another way to relax after a long day is to take a yoga class in Breathe's yoga studio, which is located upstairs above the boutique and overlooks a beautiful roof-top garden mural.
Breathe offers Pilates, Power Vinyasa, Hatha and Astanga. There is even a Yoga 101 class to help you learn the basic poses and principles of yoga if you've never tried it before, but are curious about getting started. Classes are available in levels beginner, gentle, open and intermediate. If you don't know what class might be best for you, the staff will take the time to help you decide what best fits your personal needs.
Walk-ins are very welcome in yoga classes, but if you are going to be a walk-in, I suggest arriving about ten minutes early for class. You can sign in at the juice bar, and pay for class, which is just $16. If you don't have a yoga mat, you can borrow one for just $1 more. Class typically last for about an hour and fifteen minutes.
For class, you should wear comfortable clothing, and you might want to bring a water bottle with you. If you forget one, you can easily purchase one when you sign in for class.
After you sign in, you can take off your shoes, silence your cell phone and wait to be admitted into class. I won't ruin all the surprises that await you at Breathe's yoga classes, but I am pretty sure you will feel extremely relaxed when it is all over.
On my last visit to Breathe, I took a beginner Power Vinyasa class, and I really enjoyed it. In class, there were people of all skill levels present, from people who had been very active with yoga but had stopped and were trying to get back into it, to someone who was just trying yoga for the very first time.
Everyone needs to relax once in a while, and no matter what your needs are, Breathe is sure to meet them.
