While most students were enjoying the last week of summer vacation, the dedicated members of the IUP Marching Band, nicknamed "The Legend," were getting up for intense practice from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on campus to ensure the best possible entertainment for their audience this semester.

Do: Arrange your furniture in a creative manner. If you have the space, try putting your desk or bed at an angle instead of against the wall. Harriete Estel Berman would never simply throw away a candy wrapper or a tin container. Instead, she might make a $14,000 chair out of it.

As a metalsmith, Berman uses simple materials to make jewelry, sculptures and furniture - a skill she learned and perfected in the College of Visual and Performing Arts as a jewelry and metalsmithing major at Syracuse University.
